Judge Not Others ...

I must confess! I have acted selfishly today.

There is this girl who operates a foodstall in my neighbourhood. She has a porcelain-clear complexion though she's quite plumb. She look so sweet with her dimpled smile. Everytime our eyes met, she would flashed a broad smile.

Today is her day off and I bumped into her while having brunch at a 'dim-sum' restaurant. She was there with a young chap, presumably her boyfriend. From afar, I scanned the young chap and remarked disappointingly to Ray, "she's so pretty but the guy is not good-looking at all".

By whose standard am I judging this young chap whom I do not know at all? By her standard, he is every bit the prince charming. Tsk, tsk, tsk ... I am really really GUILTY, in capital letters!

It is such human weakness to judge another solely by their external features, that subject us to focus our consciousness on our looks. I must not be too quick to judge next time but remind myself of what Helen Keller said,

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen,
nor touched ... but are felt in the heart."
