Just Laughs: Psychology

A doctor of psychology at the insane asylum was doing his normal morning rounds when he entered a patient's room. He found Patient #1 sitting on the floor, pretending to saw a piece of wood in half.

Patient #2 was hanging from the ceiling, by his feet. The doctor asked patient #1 what he was doing.

The patient replied, "Can't you see I'm sawing this piece of wood in half?"

The doctor inquired of Patient #1 what Patient #2 was doing.

Patient #1 replied, "Oh, he's my friend, but he's a little crazy. He thinks he's a light bulb."

The doctor looks up and notices Patient #2's face is turning red. The doctor asks Patient #1, "If he's your friend, you should get him down from there before he hurts himself."

Patient #1 replies, "What, and work in the dark?"

Just Laughs: Locked Out!

"What time does the library open?" the man on the phone asked.

"Nine A.M." came the reply. "And what's the idea of calling me at home in the middle of the night to ask a question like that?"

"Not until nine A.M.?" the man asked in a disappointed voice.

"No, not till nine A.M.!" the librarian said. "Why do you want to get in before nine A.M.?"

"Who said I wanted to get in?" the man sighed sadly.

"I want to get out."

Law of Attraction: Genuine Friends Are Precious!

Genuine friends are hard to find. A true, genuine friend is a priceless commodity. The world is filled with fair weather friends and part-time, only-if-it-benefits-me friends. But a genuine friend is a gift. We can gauge our true wealth by the number of genuine friends we have in our life. In the company of a real friend, our joys are doubled and our sorrows are halved. If we do not have any genuine friends then we certainly need to ask ourselves why.

Our friends are people we return to again and again to find and offer support, love and understanding. Close friends are precious. Real friends are interested in you. They understand, sympathize, offer practical support, listen, don't judge, give of their time, share intimacies and bring joy.

There are many ways close friends can come into our lives. Sometimes existing friends turn into close personal friends. This can happen with old friends. Sometimes family members turn into genuine friends. This is particularly satisfying, because we then have both the bond of sharing a family and being close friends together in the one person. Sometimes we are led or are introduced to new people and we quickly know that they could become real friends.

It is important that we can share intimacies with our friends. We need friends to help us find, share and understand our own potential. Genuine friends are precious because they bring love. We love them in return and we know we would lose our way without them.

Our intimate friends act as our everyday counsellor. We cannot know ourselves on our own. We need to share ourselves with others. When we share our lives with another openly and honestly and that person is a genuine friend who loves and tries to understand us, that very act of sharing will help us fulfill our own potential. Through sharing we will discover that, "A problem shared is a problem halved" and that, "A joy shared is a joy doubled." That’s why, genuine friends are precious indeed.

Lets look more closely at the characteristics of close friends so that we will know whether or not we are able to offer ourselves to our friends in the very same way;

  • Genuine friends are interested in you.
  • Genuine friends understand.
  • Genuine friends sympathize.
  • Genuine friends listen.
  • Genuine friends don't judge.
  • Genuine friends offer practical support.
  • Genuine friends give of their time.
  • Genuine friends share intimacies.
  • Genuine friends bring joy.
  • Genuine friends help you find your calling.

  • At times, our goings may be rough and tough. We may face doubts, fears and insecurities. It is in times like these that the love of close intimate friendships keeps us going. Genuine friends are much more important than financial wealth. Genuine friends give us unconditional love. It is the quality and number of our close friends that is a true indication of our wealth.

Of course the best way to discover genuine friends is to be a genuine friend to others!

My Bubble: Jumping From One Fire To Another

I ran from my previous job because of their brewing office politics but day by day, I find myself in the very same kind of environment at my new job. It doesn’t matter how well grounded I am as a person or how polite and friendly I am or even how much I know about office etiquette, the one thing I guess I can never avoid in the workplace is office politics.

I have found the sweet spot in my career ... competence, enjoyment, deep interest and meaning or values. I truly LOVE the challenges of my new job but on the other hand, I've come to loathe going to work. Mind you, I'm only 2 months into my job. It's like a pressure cooker! I'm just so so tired and all stressed out amidst this superficial fronts among colleagues. Loads of distrusts and suspicions.

My confidence is seriously eroding by the day! Have I jumped from one fire to another?

ARGHHH!!! I just feel like throwing in the towel!

    Brain Teaser: How's Your Maths?

Try doing this maths without looking at the answer.

"Three people check into a hotel. They pay £30 to the manager and go to their room. The manager suddenly remembers that the room rate is £25 and gives £5 to the bellboy to return to the people. On the way to the room the bellboy reasons that £5 would be difficult to share among three people so he pockets £2 and gives £1 to each person. Now each person paid £10 and got back £1. So they paid £9 each, totalling £27. The bellboy has £2, totalling £29. Where is the missing £1?"

    Answer:
We have to be careful what we are adding together. Originally, they paid £30, they each received back £1, they now have only paid £27. Of this £27, £25 went to the manager for the room and £2 went to the bellboy.

My Bubble: It's Not Time Yet For Me ...

Woke up to the patters of the rain on the awning outside my window on Thursday morning. Oh gosh, my new boss is coming today! I'd better get ready and be in the office as early as possible. It's raining and there's definitely going to be a heavy traffic jam. Jumped out of bed, got ready and off I sped to work.

True to my instinct, the heavy traffic leading to my office had spilled over to the expressway. Now, I've got no choice but to take a longer route via another expressway, else I'm going to be late as hell!

Sped through the toll gate, hit the expressway and the rain started to get heavier. As I reached the next toll gate to exit the expressway, I slowed down as I need to allow the vehicles coming on my right to pass. Before, I knew it ... arghhhhhh!!!

MY CAR DOES NOT WANT TO STOP!

A long trailer is just beside me on my right and I can't stop ... I'M GOING TO HIT HIS SIDE! I swerved to my left abit but my car is like going to skid out of control. WHAM! I hit the side of the trailer ... my car swerved back to the left on impact as I gripped hard to control my steering wheel. Luckily I did not press the break any harder, else I would have toppled over and land on some of the other cars on my left. After some swerving left and right, I managed to gain control of my car again and realised that I had broken one of finger-nails. OUCH!!!

As most cars were still speeding past me towards the toll gate, I slowly drove to the side, my heart pounding hard and my body heat rising ... I got down to check my damages. The trailer driver also got down to check on me too. We were both extremely surprised as there were only scratches on my front right fender and tyre rim. However, my car alignment was totally gone. Drove on slowly to work and by the time I was absorbed into the hectic schedule of the day, I had forgotten about the ACCIDENT ... t'was until time to go home ... PHOBIA! Till now as I post this entry, I can still feel the motion of the car skidding!

I can only be thankful to the Almighty that nothing worst had happened that day. Each time I think of the accident, I take a deep breath and am grateful that it's not time yet for me ...

How many did you managed to count? Are you sure? I suggest you go back and try again. To know how you fare, continue below ...

There are 6 ... No joke. If you think I'm wrong, READ IT AGAIN ! Really, go back and try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down.

Here's the reasoning behind this phenomenon.
    The brain cannot process "OF".
Incredible or what? Go back and look again!!
Anyone who counts all 6 "F's" on the first go is a genius.
Three is normal, four is quite rare.

    Just Laughs: Billing

A doctor and a lawyer were talking at a party.

Their conversation was constantly interrupted by people describing their ailments and asking the doctor for free medical advice.

After an hour of this, the exasperated doctor asked the lawyer, "What do you do to stop people from asking you for legal advice when you're out of the office?"

"I give it to them," replied the lawyer, "and then I send them a bill."

The doctor was shocked, but agreed to give it a try.

The next day, still feeling slightly guilty, the doctor prepared the bills.

When he went to place them in his mailbox, he found a bill from the lawyer.

My Bubble: Surviving Another Relay Run

When I finished the PAR5 relay on 30 August 2009, I vowed never again to run another race. "Never try you'll never know" ... yeah, I tried and I don't fancied. So how the hell, I got myself into another relay run?

Ekiden Run 2009 was held last Sunday at Putrajaya, Malaysia. It's a relay marathon of 5x3km (15km) which is very popular in Japan and has now spread around the world to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Spain, the Netherlands, China, Germany, France, the United States, Korea and more. There were over 300 teams participating. My running club, Kota Kemuning Pacers, sent in 3 teams, an all-men team, a mixed team and mine was the all-women's team, "SUBARASHI KK-PACERS!" The best achievement of the day ... we came in 6th placing among the 16 all-women teams. Unfortunately, it was short of a placing for the trophy. URGHHH!!!

A slight motivation for more relay runs but I think I definitely need to think twice before I ever offer myself for such events again. No way, no way! I prefer to be just plain camerawoman ... pleasssssseee ...
