My Bubble: Better Safe Than Sorry ...

An incident in the locker room at my neighborhood gym remains fresh in mind, eventhough it happened way back in July (I did wrote about it then) and every time I used the gym lockers, I still have a fear that history will repeat itself!

Being a practitioner of the Law of Attraction, I know pretty well that this fear is just going to attract the same or maybe a worst scenario.  I guessed I've not worked hard enough to overcome this fear because it happened again!  But this time round, I'm glad it wasn't as bad.

It has been more than a month or two since I've visited the gym but I recently received a complimentary invite to a popular gym at the next door neighborhood.  I'd planned to warm-up on the gym bike for about 30mins before joining a 45mins session in a body-combat class.  I certainly hoped the workout will not aggravate the nagging pain on my feet due to tendonitis and plantar fasciitis.  Arghhh ... the signs of body deterioration ... the signs of aging!

Anyway,  as usual I had kept my gym bag in the locker room before going about my exercises at this newly opened gym.  The gym bike was great, all brand new equipped with a USB port to plug in my MP3 ... cool!  Disappointingly the body-combat session did not have as much impact as the instructor was just a young trainer who seemed to be fresh out of school sort.  She was nervous and stiff at the same time.

I returned to the locker room about one-and-a-half hours later to have my shower and to a hive of commotion.  I proceeded towards my locker, at the same time trying to make out what all the hoo-ha was about.  My heart sanked as I was confronted by my wide-opened locker.  My gym bag and toiletries just strewn on the floor.  I felt fortunate that I had my wallet, handphone and car-keys with me during my exercise.  Obviously, the thief was not fruitful ransacking my locker but some ladies weren't as fortunate.  Forgoing the intention to shower, I quickly gathered my stuffs and bolted from the place as I didn't want to be dragged into the nitty-gritty of dealing with the management of the gym.  It'll take hours of claims and denying responsibilities.  No thanks, I don't want to be involved considering I'm just a guest member.

While driving home, the incident in July kept repeating in mind.  My regular gym has since replaced all their gym lockers to more reliable and durable ones which hopefully no one will ever suffer any unfavorable episodes again.  But still, I'd rather chose to carry all my valuables with me at all time.  For me, the lockers are rightfully meant to keep my change and toiletries only.

It's better safe than be sorry.

4 Bubbles:

What is wrong with people? Geez, we should be able to go about our business without having to worry about getting ripped off. But I know that's unrealistic. I'm glad you had your important items with you.

I've been trying really hard to be good, but I'm a bad friend. I know I shouldn't smile at the thought of you in just a towel and your clothes stuck in a jammed locker, but I am anyway! =)

Ric is so naughty, hehe.

How nice it would have been if the world was a safer place where everyone can trust each other. Everything would have went smoother, and nothing gets stolen.

Anyway, have a great 2011, Wenny. I'm grateful for your constant reminders to stay grateful - even I stray from what I preach every now and then.

We're only human Shingo T. Most important is that we realise our incompetence and correct them at the earliest before it hurt ourselves and our loved ones.

Happy New Year to you and wifey!
