Friendship Day is celebrated every year, on the first Sunday of August. This year, it is celebrated today, 7th August.

This day was declared by the US congress in 1935 and the occasion began as a small event, to commemorate the relation shared by friends. The idea of honoring friendship has been appreciated by people in many countries of the world. Over the passed years, the celebrations related to Friendship Day have become even more colorful. The exchange of gifts, flowers, friendship bands and greeting cards has become an important part or rather, a tradition of Friendship Day.

I wish to thank all my friends for their treasured friendships and that we shall continue to grow together under God's blessed light and guidance.  Here's my little prayer for you;

You have blessed us, O God,

with the gift of friendship,

the bonding of persons

in a circle of love.

We thank you for such a blessing:

for friends who love us,

who share our sorrows,

who laugh with us in celebration,

who bear our pain,

who need us as we need them,

who weep as we weep,

who hold us when words fail,

and who give us the freedom

to be ourselves.

Bless our friends with health,

wholeness, life, and love.

Amen.
