It's Good Friday! It is the culmination of the Holy Week which had begun on Palm Sunday, April 1st. This is the day Christians around the world commemorate the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross to bring us salvation. Today is the day we appreciate how Jesus had willingly suffered in our place and absorbed all our ignorance and wrongdoings. Why? Because He so loved us!
Luke 23:34 ~ "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."
There is always a deep darkness to Good Friday. It reminds us about sufferings and sacrifices, betrayals and loyalty as well as bitterness and love. Good Friday teaches us about humanity ... about what life can do to us, what we can do to one another, the helplessness during our sufferings and the loneliness when our cries are unheeded. Good Friday also teaches us about faith, trust and courage to face our challenges in solitude. It is a day we realize that love and forgiveness will give light to our tunnel of darkness.
This afternoon's Good Friday Mass at the Church of Divine Mercy was fully occupied with parishioners from all walks of life where I met some familiar faces and some new faces. We were all there bearing only one purpose ... to give thanks to our God the Father that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for us and to seek God's blessing as we journey through Passiontide with our Lord, reminding ourselves of our Lord's lessons for us.
To all my blog-friends ... May God Bless You!
