A Day With God In My Bubble ...

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." ~ Philippians 4:8

If we actually pause for a moment and take in everything in sight around us, there is always something we'll notice that's worthy of praise. These are the very things that help bring out the gratitude in us. We live in a world where everyone including ourselves strive to be the best, have the best and look the best everyday and it is so easy to overlook the simplest gift from God ... our true self!

Today as I was browsing over some pictures posted on facebook, I was delightfully looking at a group of my friends contributing their time to their church's community service in a 'orang asli' settlement somewhere out of town in Perak. It was not only an adults' activity but even their young children participated as well. Looking at their faces, they were obviously enjoying themselves very much. One was photographed teaching English to a group of 'orang asli' kids. What's astonishing is that while these friends may be from the upper middle class, they seemed to derived so much pleasure volunteering to do God's work. While I know them to be very spiritual, they are also a bunch of very down-to-earth people. They are honorable and truly worthy of praise!

We all know that being down-to-earth is definitely a good thing as we become relaxed, humble and connected to the simple things in life. I think I finally caught God's message to me through this observation.  Change my thoughts ... that it is sufficient for me to just live life as good as I am able to, focus on doing what I can and simply be down-to-earth. Good thoughts and actions always produce good results, sometimes possibly in unusual ways. Trust Him to take care of the rest.

Praise ye the Lord!
