There was indeed alot of activities to be enjoyed in Rotorua but unfortunately we couldn't really spare so much time in one place. Just for the thermal park attractions, we could only visit the most popular Wai-O-Tapu, out of the 3 popular spots which included Orakei Korako Cave & Thermal Park and Waimangu Volcanic Valley. Not to mention foregoing the many bubbling mud pools and hot thermal springs to soak in. Cultural attractions was an intended missed as were the extreme sports like bungy-jumping, tandem skydive and white-water rafting. There wasn't any time to spare for lo kong to try his hand at trout fishing or fly fishing in Lake Rotorua!
Not intended to grumble about an otherwise great vacation, we have to continue our journey. After all, we've only got another week to enjoy our campervan adventure.
I had planned to visit the Buried Village on our way out of Rotorua but unfortunately, we were late. We reached almost to closing time. Lucky for us, one of the staff pointed us to a hidden spot for some scenic sunset view over Lake Tarawera. Though we didn't stay long enough for the sunset, the view was fantastic! I was so envious of the homes that stood by the lake edge.
